Since the WRX didn't come with a tach I searched all over for an elegant solution that would compliment the stock display and ended up with this little number from down under. Looks really basic to install, a little tricky to program, but should be a great addition to the stock dash.

Opened the bat cave today to test our hypothesis about powervalve interference being the culprit for the stormtroopers downfall last weekend. Our suspicions were quickly confirmed, but luckily the bike was quickly shut down when the interference started. Powervalve and cylinder are still usable condition, but the piston will need to be replaced. Can everyone say wiseco?

Now this is the intake I have been searching for! Huge difference in airflow, matches the 21mm perfectly! Also holds the carb a lot more securely than the stock setup. Looks like I may have to adjust jetting on the carb once this is on the bike. Some lucky bat will be picking up one of the two I just got in!

Finally got my hands on a sweet "bunny ears" type airbox for my mito! Now comes the search for a carb. Do I go with the larger TM35 Mikuni or just upgrade to the 28mm RD carb? The 28 seems like the more logical choice since the throttle cable I already have on the bike will work easing installation, not to mention the fact I have a whole lot of DelOrto jets an bits for the 28. The race never ends......

Quick and easy fuel line disconnect just installed on the tuxedo mito. This was only $15.98
and 5 mins with sweet zinc plated clips to hold everything in place. This is such a sweet little mod that I am planning on getting one for my RS50 and Mito.

This sweet assembly has now made it onto all three of my ridden bikes, but will be best used on the Mito.

Setup is a brembo 16 radial master cylinder, rizoma fluid can, and unbreakable asv shorty lever. These components will greatly improve stopping, give better feel, is more durable, and is even 3.57 grams lighter!

Check out this sweet italian racing crank for the am6 motor! Now that metrakit is harder than ever to find it's good to know there is an alternative. This stuffed and weighted race crank will be mated to a Top performance 80cc top end to complete the ultimate street setup for a new Bat in the cave. Well shes pretty naked following some further disassembly and inspection of parts. Found the carb pretty dirty since it was with premix and sat for 8 years. Inspection of the carb and parts inside revealed it had all the SP kit bits installed. The SP reeds were also on the bike as well as the SP harness and "magic" boxes!

Next step will be taking apart what's left on the bike including the Motor and cleaning everything.....stay tuned!

The super trick Rizoma fluid reservoir arrived today and will replace the plain old plastic one on my brembo 16, asv levered, master cylinder that now resides on the Aprilia. Stay tuned for final installation and write up.

After making quick work of the derbi mods I had some wrench time left for April and what do ya know, another brake mod! Mounted up a brembo master cylinder from an r6 along with my recently purchased asv "unbreakable" shorty lever. The lever was a great add on being more durable, .0357 grams lighter, better looking, and way more adjustable than stock. Still need to flush the old fluid, wire up the brake sensor, and order a super bling fluid reservoir. Also need to research a clutch perch so I can make the same lever upgrade for the other side!

Yes, the bike is now sporting super light aluminum triple clamp, clip ons, and fiberglass bodywork. When this bike reappears on the street this summer prepare to smell my two smoke if you're riding with me:-)

While I wait for the rebuild kit and the nissin master replacement might as well bling out the wimpy stock one! This little anodized red cover is twice as durable, twice as bling, and .0357 oz. Lighter than stock. It also replaces the ugly stock phillips head screws with bling aluminum hex heads. Now if I only had some brake fluid so I could flush out the old brown stuff:-)

Brake Upgrade!

Finally had a few minutes to wrench and figured I should try out the CN racing caliper relocation bracket. This custom made bracket enables me to upgrade the wimpy single piston senda caliper (stock rear GPR caliper) to a two piston GPR front caliper! This and the improved caliper positioning will improve braking big time on the bike. Now that I am comfortable the bracket works I can mount the usd front end once the fork cartridges are modified for performance and color matched to maintain the bikes style. The master cylinder will be replaced soon as well with a radial nissan unit from a honda rs125 when the rebuild kit arrives at sfmoto.

Street Warrior

Well after a few days of grinding, priming, painting, assembling, and
reassembling it's alive! Ready for the Santa Cruz mountains ride this
weekend!

Frame is painted matte bronze with a matte clear coat and the swingarm
is painted SEMI-FLAT BLACK
with matte clear. I like how the color came out
and should look good with the usd fork color.

After I get the usd front end back, with the black front wheel, from
CN racing the bike will be pretty much complete and ready for regular
street duty. While not as pretty as the ccc ultimate motard I have, it
definately has its own good looks and should not attract unwanted
attention from h8ers.

Also thinking about going with a veypor digital tach on this bike and
redoing the rear light/plate setup to clean it up a bit.

Street Warrior Rebirth

Decided to completely rebuild my street warrior motard including a
paint job for the frame and swingarm. Here is a picture of it from
last week after a few hours of stripping the bike.

No spark figured out

Well I took apart the entire $400 bike to paint the frame and
swingarm. With that complete an dry it came time give the motor a once
over before install in the refurbished bike. It was left sitting due
to no spark so I started by testing everything and it came out with a
bad stator. Just removed the flywheel to inspect and low and behold
the red pickup wire was just hanging there! Look like it was run
incorrectly resulting in the wire being damaged and then coming
dislodge from the pickup. This will be and easy fix to save the ducati
stator but for now I will just replace it with our spare ducati stator
to get it up and running.

2003 CCC Motard

My latest additions to the Super Duper Motard include the trail tech veypor (speedo/tach/temp/odo), My custom all black seat, and fastway footpegs.

The veypor was very easy to install so far I used the original power and rpm lead from the stock guages and installed the temperature fitting with a simple hose cut and clamp. The speedo portion will have to wait for my USD conversion as the sensor will mount on the fork guard and most likely will have to drill the rotor to install the magnet.

I removed the black seat from my old derbi to use on the ultimate derbi, but still have to find a better permanent solution to mounting the small battery to the underside of the seat.

Fastway pegs were also removed from my old motard and were filthy phil for real. After a degrease, clean, polish, and hand painting of the logo they were installed on the ultimate Derbi.

While awaiting CN racings completion of my GPR caliper bracket to fit on the USD forks I plan to remove my expansion chamber and find a place to either nickel plate or ceramic plate. Still uncertain on what will look best on this bad boy.

Also now considering a motor swap already for a KTM 85/105sx motor!

My vapor guage arrived today! With the wires in the kit that need to
be run and the unused wires on my new motard it should be fairly easy
to install. Might pull the harness back out to wire everything on the
bike as cleanly as possible. To maintain the title of sickest derbi
everything needs to be sick! Stay tuned for the rest of the finishing
touches.....

So I managed to find some time to fit the wheels, Metradisc, and an engine side cover. The wheels look even better on the bike and the Metradisc adds some bling. I am still undecided on using this engine cover or the one I painted.

In case you are wondering the 140/70 fits the rear perfectly with no rubbing!

I am trying to figure out what color to coat the frame, swingarm, and front shocks. Anybody handy with photoshop or have ideas? I am thinking Gun metal powdercoat?

Well it's been awhile since my last post, but the wait is over! My wheels are finally finished! There are probably easier or cheaper alternatives to what has been done on these suckers, but the results speak for themselves. They pretty much look like the DRD edition wheels which is what I was aiming for. Thanks to Paul @ Westside Wheel Werx for "lacing me up!" Also thanks to 4Ari for hooking me up with the extra set of wheels!

So here is the rundown on the wheel build:

*The rims have been anodized black for a clean factory finish that should last.

*The hubs/spindles were painted flat black (rattle can).

*New custom made stainless steel spokes and nipples.

*Fresh meat!

Hopefully I will have a little time to mount them on the bike so I can start fitment of the GPR caliper, Metradisc, and few other tidbits. Stay tuned!

The Wating Game

Well the wait continues as my wheels, which would have been ready tomorrow, are now delayed. When trying to true the wheel and tighten the spokes one of them snapped. So now I will get all new spokes and nipples for even more bling, only problem is a longer wait for my wheels. So far the Spindles/Hubs where painted black and the rims have been anodized black. They should look really great with new spokes, nipples, and those meaty tires!

I also got an email today from Europe that one of the parts I ordered is delayed a week so my entire order will be delayed. You will have to wait to see the trick parts I ordered, I can guarantee that nobody else here in the U.S. has them!

With a few minutes to spare I did manage replacing the old chain. Wow, 136 link chain and only had to take off 3 links! This is one long chain!

IRC Tires

I just got in my new tires, IRC Road Winners RX-01's that will be mounted on my custom wheels when they are done. They are size 110/70 front and a whopping 140/70 rear, which is probly the biggest you can go on the stock setup. Thanks to Eddie for pointing me in the right direction for finding tires. I will give my road and track reviews when they get mounted, stay tuned!

This is the way I think they should have come from the factory! With a trick piece coming from Europe to replace the factory cover I figured it would be no harm to play with the stock piece. 45 minutes and a couple of Testors paint pens later this is what I came up with. Doesn't look too bad, and I am thinking to do the oil pump cover on the other side next. What do you think?

Metra Disc

Well it didn't take long for me to find something to throw money at, the Metra Disc from Metrakit. It got a cool wave shape and bling red enamel coating. Pierce at Pod Performance assured me that this and the new set of galfer brake pads he also sent me will have the bike lifting the rear wheel no problem. This still won't stop me from my eventual install of the GPR 2 piston caliper to further improve braking and bling! I will detail the install when my bling wheels are done!

The Featured Bike

Well I have decided to make a detailed account of the maintenance, modifications, and upgrades that will be done to my newly acquired 2003 Derbi Supermotard. I purchased the bike from someone here in San Francisco with 2,700 miles on the clock and lots of mods and parts already done. This is the fourth 2003 Derbi Supermotard I have owned and I intend to make it the best! The bike has a full metrakit SP (72cc) setup and a mo under tail pipe for great power to start with! This was a major reason I purchased this bike is that it already had all the power parts I wanted. It also has a custom "black out" seat cover, acerbis hand guards and mirror, Pro Taper handlebar, and Fastway foot pegs. What else could possibly be done to this bike? Just wait and see!!
